LINK: What To Ask Before Hiring Your Wedding Audio Provider
WHEN DO YOU NEED PROFESSIONAL AUDIO FOR A WEDDING CEREMONY?
Typically, a wedding with 40 or fewer guests can be arranged in such a way that any amplification of music and the marriage vows might not be necessary.* However, with larger groups it’s quite likely that any guests seated beyond the first two or three rows cannot hear the vows being spoken, nor any special readings or speeches. Having a skilled audio engineer utilizing a professional sound system can make a tremendous difference for everyone present. Fear of missing out (FOMO) will often inspire family and friends to travel great distances for a wedding, but the quality of the sound is ultimately what will determine whether they feel like they’re actually participating in your big day!
*In some cases, smaller weddings may still benefit from hiring a professional sound provider. Please read the “Recording Audio for Video” section below.
HOW DO WE KEEP EVERYONE CAPTIVATED?
Nobody wants to attend a wedding only to feel disconnected from the most special moment of the day because they can’t hear what’s going on. Simply amplifying easily concealed wireless microphones worn by those speaking in the ceremony will deepen the level of connection with your guests. Thoughtful placement of speakers, along with careful adjusting of levels will yield clean, articulate and even distribution of sound where no guest feels they are being left out. Our professional caliber wireless systems greatly exceed industry norms for preventing annoying wireless “drop outs” and our engineers use careful equalization techniques to avoid unpleasant feedback noise while preserving a natural sound. And our goal is always to deliver all of this as invisibly as possible, with the least amount of equipment, so as not to detract from the visual appeal of your chosen venue.
WHERE DOES MUSIC FIT INTO ALL OF THIS?
Nearly everyone wants to have some form of music to accompany their wedding because it adds another layer of emotion to the memories being created. Whether it’s the background music during the guest arrival and seating, the special songs for the entrance of family members, the bridal processional song, or a celebratory number as the newlyweds exit, music makes all these special moments more impactful and memorable. But if the music is too loud for the guests seated closest to the source while simultaneously being too quiet for the people furthest away, very few of your guests are having the tranquil, pleasant experience you envisioned. Evenly distributed sound coverage at an appropriate volume for everyone is crucial to making an unforgettable experience. Our custom-built audio systems for weddings will accommodate anything from playback of pre-recorded music to a vast variety of live musicians and instruments. Tell us what you want to hear!
WHAT ABOUT RECORDING AUDIO FOR VIDEO?
A properly designed sound system is also integral to capturing a high-quality recording of the wedding when you’re hiring a videographer to document everything. Oftentimes the ideal video camera placement is not the best spot to record vows or speeches. When the camera is behind the very last row of chairs, its microphone is at a big disadvantage, with the voices being too distant against an increase in background noise. In this common scenario our audio engineer could provide a separate, high quality audio stream directly from the mixing console to the videographer’s camera (or another external recording device). These recordings can be later edited and synchronized to the video. This is not only indispensable for properly preserving your own memories but also for viewing by any friends or loved ones that were unable to attend in person.
SPECIALISTS vs. GENERALISTS?
“THE JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES IS A MASTER OF NONE”
More than just professionals, we consider ourselves specialists, a critical distinction not to be overlooked nor considered lightly. Everything described above requires highly specialized equipment and sound engineers with advanced techniques which are beyond the scope or abilities of DJ services and one-size-fits-all A/V companies. A Sound Objective is the first of its kind within the industry because our decidedly very narrow niche is exclusively professional audio for weddings. Our entire inventory is purpose built for weddings, nothing else, and our sole focus is on meeting the needs of soon-to-be-married couples, while keeping their wedding planner’s visual style and aesthetic goals top of mind.
